This blog is a record of my artistic journey, starting from the very beginning when I took my first drawing class in my junior year of high school. I'm intending this blog to be a complete record of my progress, so that anyone (including myself) can go back and see where I started out.

Finished Piece #5
I did this piece around last November-ish. I was thinking of doing a piece with a hand in it, and for some reason this popped into my head. The more I think about this piece, the less I know about why I did it haha. It just kind of popped into my head, and I drew it, but I think it looks pretty cool. I did this piece in colored pencil because I wanted the balloon to have very vibrant colors in it. Other than that, I don't really have many thoughts on this piece, because it was pretty spontaneous.

AP Studio Art: Concentration
These were the last two pieces I made for my AP Studio Art portfolio. With these two, I specifically picked vibrantly-colored paper, just to experiment with the effect that it has. I really like how they came out. In my opinion, the color of the paper becomes a strong element, since it's so bright and bold. If anything, it definitely gives these two scenes a totally different feel than the other two scenes of my field hockey and softball equipment. Hope you enjoy!
Comments are always welcome, but I'd be especially interested to see what you think of these pieces!

AP Studio Art: Concentration
These are more pieces from my AP Studio Art portfolio, which has actually been submitted already. There are still two more pieces left, so you'll see those next week. The first piece is another attempt at morphing the tinker toys I used to play with into the thing that I imagined it to be. The second piece consists of my softball glove and bat, both of which have served me very well for many years :)

Finished Piece #4
I just finished this piece about a two weeks ago, and let me tell you, I was glad it was done. This is a collage self-portrait, based off the technique of artist Megan Coyle. I think it looks pretty awesome, but it was also probably the most tedious piece of art I have ever done. Cutting and pasting little bits of paper, no matter what the finished product looks like, is not the kind of artistic process I enjoy. So, like I said, I won't be doing this again anytime soon, but I hope you enjoy this piece :)

New Idea
This is just a little update. I had an idea that it would be cool to recommend a "Resource of the Month" on the last Wednesday of every month. I would give my thoughts on lots of different types of resources from podcasts, to art books, to materials, to artists on YouTube. I've got lots of stuff that I like to watch, read, and listen to, and I'd like to share so you guys can benefit from them too! I don't know if I'll make it for this month, because I'll be graduating from high school, and everything is going to get crazy. There will definitely be one in June though, so you can look forward to that :D
